South Carolina: Democrats to Consider Senate Loser’s Protest

Voters complained of pushing touch screens to select Senate candidate Vic Rawl only to see the name Alvin Greene repeatedly pop up, Rawl said as he announced a formal protest of the Senate nomination stunner in South Carolina.

Rawl, who lost 59 percent to 41 percent to the unknown Greene, filed a challenge Monday with the state Democratic Party, the Charleston Post and Courier reported.

“There is a cloud over Tuesday’s election,” Rawl said at a news conference. “At this point, the people of our state do not have the basic confidence that their vote will be counted.”

The state party’s executive committee is to consider the protest Thursday.
